The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson

4.0

I can’t imagine the brainpower that went into this novel. The worldbuilding is mind-blowing to the highest level. It felt like I was reading historical documents from some other world; that’s how deep it goes.
Despite the obvious intricacy of the book and talent of the author, I feel a little bit conflicted. The book was an absolute hulking mass that took me weeks to finish, and it took a lot of willpower to actually go read it. I don’t think I enjoyed reading The Way of Kings as much as others. I suppose my reasoning is that the plot is being set up and there’s a lot of repetition, especially in the battle scenes.
Anyway, this book was good in some respects, amazing in others. I liked it; it just wasn’t my absolute favorite.
