House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland

”…a dark fairytale about three sisters who fell through a crack in the world and met a monster who did something terrible to them.”

Hauntingly beautiful.
Grotesquely feminine.
Disturbingly good.

A modern dark fairytale filled with grim themes and creepy imagery that is highlighted well with the compelling writing.

”Strangeness only bred strangeness, and it felt dangerous to tempt fate, to invite in the darkness that already seemed naturally drawn to us.”

At its core (beneath all the horror), this is a tale of the fierce bonds of sisterhood. An eerie story of loss and grief. A poignant chronicle of survival.

”We loved each other with potent, fervent fury. Animal fury. Monstrous fury. My sisters. My blood. My skin. What a gruesome bond we shared.”

This is magical realism executed so well!! The writing, the plot, and the characters were all exceptional!!! I am a sucker for lyrical descriptive writing and this did the job so well.
