I won this book in a Goodreads First Reads contest.

It is a book of essays by women from many different walks of life who felt the hugeness of the negativity the last presidential election in 2016 has brought to American life. They tell of their despair, frustration, worries, and new hyper-awareness of the possibility of danger coming to them. They are over-whelmingly not surprised by the outcome. A few were but it feels a bit like they deep down knew and had the shock of realizing so many people where awful in election a hatemonger and anti-woman candidate. I think that is what personally surprised me in the outcome.

Many of us have felt anxious, horrified, and angry since the election. I have had to cut back on my following of the news to be actually about to create art since that is my livelihood. There are times I feel the "flight" response of "fight or flight" in blaring loudness in my inner warning system.

Women have a right to be scared, angry, anxious. Trump is completely anti-woman. He hates poor people. He hates non-whites. He hates gays. All his policies show people of those groups this.

If you are a Trump supporter, you will despise this book but then, you won't be reading it in the first place. For everyone else, it is good to hear voices express anxieties and worries that mirror your own. Like going to The Women's March or March for Science...It is good to know you are not alone in your worries and anxiety but share it with other people. This book gives readers that feeling.
