Schoolgirl by Osamu Dazai

school girl, osamu dazai- 5/5
incredible writing and exploration of themes of youth, anxiety, angst, nihilism, self loathing, and depression in the classic dazai manner (i.e., will have you shaking crying throwing up like nothing else you read). also surprisingly a very good portrayal of girlhood and mother-daughter dynamic considering dazai’s portrayal of women in no longer human which i wasn’t particularly impressed with. absolutely loved the book for its brilliance and hated it for how disgustingly exposed it made me feel. easily a new favorite!
