I really vibed with this one. Read it in about 36 hours since I was running out of time on Libby. Didn't know southern gothic horror was something I was missing. I liked the characters and I loved the basic plot. Really wanted to keep reading to see what happened next.
I am impressed to see that it is a debut novel. I am excited to see what the author does next since this was a really solid base - I think the characters all meshed relatively well with each-other but they could have been a little more fleshed out. Some of the villains were a little thin. I think the ending wrapped up slightly too neatly - there's one deal and one feathered friend that didn't really get explained to my liking. Would have loved more backstory into the central villains and also an idea of what comes next after the resolution.
4.25 stars.
