marcella 's review for:
The Killing Moon
by N.K. Jemisin
This is a well loved library book -- both covers were taped back on and the corners are soft and worn down so I have to blow on them to turn the page. That's a good review if I've ever seen one. N.K. Jemisin has been popping up repeatedly in places I check for recommendations.
The author had a caveat at the beginning about amateur Egyptology, and that was actually useful for my visual imagery.
The story was pretty engaging and unpredictable (but well thought out). I got a bit overwhelmed at times with jargon. I never remember to look for glossaries (this book has one). Overall, this was nice to read but I don't know if I'll go out of my way to find the next in the series.
