The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo by Amy Schumer

3.0

There was an enormous amount of this memoir that I really enjoyed - in particular Schumer does an exceptional job of giving insight into herself as a teen and young adult, you feel as if you really know and understand who she was. She also shows a level of vulnerability and apparent candour that is nice to see. There are places where she lapses back into a patter about men and women that feels as if it belows in a club act (and vaginas - I love female comedians but really, I don't want to hear about what your vagina smells like any more than I want to hear about your male counterparts' genitals smell like which is zero). And there are some chapters in which the female empowerment/inspiration/learned a valuable lesson feels tacked on. But I liked this a whole lot. And it made me think that were I to meet her, I would like Amy Schumer a whole lot (which is kind of the point of these memoirs).
