The book is highly entertaining. It is, however, a bit long, using sometimes unnecessary plot points to justify the mention of a historical event. I enjoy that because I happen to really like this era in history, but it makes the book too long. As it is part of a triology, I assume that the consistent good luck of the many main characters in each country are to keep the reader interested in their fate. I would hope some of their fortunes reverse in the next book.
Overall, a great read to keep things light during this entertaining but decidedly scary election season.
