“Want you,” I whisper. Lately, those two words define me.
“Have me,” he says.
I guess you could say that this was a coming of age story but it was also about doing what makes you happy and being true to yourself too. The connection between Wes and Jamie was so strong, and the chemistry was tangible. It felt alive, and the pace was perfect. It wasn’t a slow burn, but that would have felt unnecessarily angsty in this case. The character development was decent. Wes jumped off the page a little more than Jamie did for me, but both were written well. It doesn't stand out in my mind among the various hockey M/M I've been binging on, perhaps because the tension was low key and familiar. The most emotion is invested in the flashbacks to when they were teens. And one key climactic moment of drama seemed a bit out of character. But if you enjoy sports M/M, with friends to lovers, some bisexual self-discovery and first times, you may well enjoy this one.
