One of Us Is Back by Karen M. McManus
3.0

let me preface this by saying 'one of us is lying' should've been a stand-alone. i can justify this because the storytelling, motives and overall plot of the sequels are far-fetched, unrealistic and honestly, STUPID.

that said, i loved all the characters in the bayview crew, from shy nerdy knox to popular sporty cooper; and my love for natewyn has never been understated. something about them: the good-girl/bad-boy dynamic, the second-chance romance, the "i've been in love with you since 5th grade" and the "i'll be better for you" is just so swoon-worthy! not to mention addy prentiss. maybe my opinion of her has been somewhat coloured by the tv show adaptation but i find her absolutely AMAZING.

this series has the best found family dynamic and it's the perfect thing to feed into my delusions. but... that's all it has. while the first book was at least engaging plot-wise and kept the reader guessing, its sequels fall flat and are super predictable and far-fetched.

3 stars for natewyn, addy and the bayview crew :)
