Metal from Heaven by August Clarke
5.0
As I saw this recommended for fans of Gideon the Ninth I was immediately sold. This is now the second book I’ve read where I have to fall in love with a tortured butch with a sword who’s loyally single-minded about the first girl they ever knew and ends up killed in a vague, fantastical and impermanent way because of her???? Justice for my poor heart and also for Marney and Gideon who were both so hot and ferocious despite their agony.
Anyway, this book was lustrous (pun obviously intended) and dazzling and gritty and so full of love and queerness and ferocity and rage. Wow. A treasure.
