Confessions of a Curious Bookseller
by Elizabeth Green
It's really disappointing when a book doesn't live up to your expectations. While Elizabeth Green writes exquisite prose, with some passages just singing, that just simply isn't enough. It definitely does not live up to the description of "heartening and uproariously funny" as Fawn is an unpleasant protagonist with few redeemable qualities. I found nothing to root for in her, and without that there was little to hold onto. I kept reading hoping that somehow she would redeem herself, but that didn't happen, or at least not in a way that I found any more empathy or sympathy for her situation and story.
