The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell
2.0

When I picked up this book, I put it under the category of "brain junk food." This meaning that I knew it wouldn't be intellectually stimulating or terribly interesting. It was more or less a way to just get lost in a plot in which, I knew the ending (i.e. Sex and the City) While the beginning left little to be desired- even as far as writing technique goes- I ended up liking the sharp twists in plot. I think at times the book lacked cohesion which made it seem as if there wasn't one main conflict and just ten small ones. I also was confused as to why it was such a struggle to say what year it was... There were points when a character would start saying "198.." and then get cut off. It left me kind of wondering where I was in time. Overall, I ended up liking the story and the subliminal connections to Sex and the City. I haven't decided if I'll pick up the second one yet, but the ending did leave me interested in what will happen next on her journey to her maturity.
