The Happy Ever After Playlist is a tale of two halves and your mileage will probably vary. I enjoyed the simplicity of the first half where Sloan, a mourning widow, and Jason, a stressed-out musician developing their relationship. It's cute to see how deep their connections actually ran. Then the second half where the musician drama occurs, it becomes very shaky to me. Jimenez's other stories tend to be as grounded as romcoms go, but Jason's plot really took me out of it. It doesn't help that this is amplified by miscommunication and lying tropes. It finds its footing at the ending, but it does make me think the drama could have occurred more naturally. Knocked it down a half star rating for me.

On the audiobook front, both narrators brought life to the POVs and definitely enhanced my enjoyment of the book.

P.S. The playlist for the book is a bop.
