I just finished reading this and I have to say I loved the ending. Still I cannot give it more than 4 stars just because the beginning was so boring. I would say the first 200 pages I just had to get through to get to the good stuff, the great writing I'm used to with SJMs books.
This book definitely did not disappoint. I loved so many parts of it and I even grew to like Nesta. I guess it's important to add that I did not like her at all! Even during the first 200 pages I thought she was just incredibly annoying and frustrating. But I loved her growth!
My favourite part about the book was Nestas friendship with Emerie and Gwyn. I love strong female friendships in books and this one was just phenomenal!
Also I was worried that this book might be a but too smutty for me but it really wasn't. I mean don't get me wrong there is a lot if smut and it's quite excessive. I would still have liked the book better with less smut but at least it didn't make me uncomfortable. It was woven into the story in a way that made sense and it didn't hinder my enjoyment of the story.
One thing that bothered me a bit was the POV though. We only got to see through Nesta and Cassians POV and I'm just too attached to the rest of the Night Court (especially Feysand). I wish we got to see some things from their perspective as well.
Edit: I can't stop thinking about this book. The story was more important to me than I even realised while initially reading it. I definitely want to reread this book and it is one of my all time favourites. It is difficult because the beginning is really slow and 3-4 stars but the majority of the book is really great so I'm gonna change the rating to 5 stars for now. Maybe if I reread it I might change it again.
