Doctor No by Ian Fleming

4.0

My favorite Bond book in some time. This one has the most even plot pacing, I'd say, though the defeat of the villain still comes across as very anti-climactic (though I'd say it might be some sort of commentary on the West vs. the Communist East; namely, that the West are doers, while the Communists overthink things, and that's why they fail). Still, Honey Rider's probably the most interesting female lead in the Bond books since Vesper Lynd, even though you know she's never going to come back after the end of this book (even if you don't know how future books turn out). So, yeah, good stuff.
