🏈 slow burn
📌“I remembered our first kiss. A hundred years could pass by, and I’d still remember that kiss.”
📌“The NFL draft is all about picks. You’re my pick.”
📌“Do you have any idea how much I think about you?”
“More than football?”
“More than football.”
Faye. I want to start this with her. Because she spoke to me so loudly, so vividly. She put this ache inside my heart, a heart that constantly broke for her, a heart that just wanted to rally for her.
Sometimes there’s no big explanation to why we connect to a specific character. It’s just there. It doesn’t happen often. I can name you (only) two other FMCs that made me feel this way too. So, know… Faye is special. To me at least.
Now, we had glimpses of Rush and Faye’s story since Coach. We looked into the window of their love even if it was boarded up. 😏 So, I knew this was going to be special. But I didn’t know how special. How unique. How thoroughly Rush & Faye it would be.
This book was devastatingly beautiful. And I do mean it. From the first encounter to the last page of the epilogue, their journey was like a beautiful sunset. And sunsets are my favorite.
I finally can say I have a favorite sports romance series. Treasure State Wildcats is the Super Bowl champion I was waiting for.
