“For poets, the elegy is a type of currency”p 283, what a fucking line my god.   Engrossing and captivating, Abdurraqib’s careful attention to the threads of the American tapestry makes for an absolutely astonishing collection of essays. absolutely required reading. I’ve always loved his poetry but his essays are on another level.
