Audiobook reread March 2024. Easily another 5 stars.
I think this book felt much darker then the others due to how people got to this world. It wasn’t just about not fitting in, in the real world. These people had to get away because of abuse, so the store created a safe place for them while taking things from them. Antsy getting more confidence as it went on was really good to see but you could still see the affects from living with her stepfather. Even if it was just the starting stages, you could see how much it affected her. I like the magpies in it and the idea of the nexus world. I think this book does well at expanding the worlds and showing how they connect.
