A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen
3.0

I'm still trying to come to terms with how I feel about this play. The plot definitely kept me intrigued, but I think character-wise I was hoping for something deeper. I expected a stronger female character than Nora or even Katherine, and even Nora's final decision didn't give me that. Also, the frivolity of the Helmer's marriage grated against my nerves, and by the end it was almost unbearable listening to Torvald go on about his "lark," his "little squirrel." Nevertheless, Ibsen does present some interesting challenges to the ideals about marriage and women of the time so all in all I'm glad I read the play.
