I know that many people absolutely love this book, but it didn't work for me. The writing and character development were just okay.  The speculative and magical realism was not developed enough for me. Finally,  the best part to me was the plotline, which was somewhat unique.

And where were the library books? I thought this book would be set in an actual library, and it wasn't, so I was disappointed.

I am wondering if best sellers are the best choices for me, or rather, books that are touted as potential best sellers before being published. This just missed the mark.
