High Stakes by Meg Cabot

4.0

Meg Cabot has a talent. A true talent. She has the talent to write stories about teenagers and to make them actually sound like teenagers, to make them actually act like teenagers. Just like the Princess Diaries series and just like the first book in this series the voice used to tell this story is just amazing. There's some sass, there are some irresponsible comments and at times I just can't hide the smile and my shaking head.

I also really like the difference in mediating techniques, where Suze quite clearly is just a teenager. She's not very happy with the random disturbances, she just wants to get things over with and she's rarely doing proper research so she jumps to conclusions. Does that mean that at times she's a little rude? Totally. Does that make her a true YA character starring in a YA novel? Totally. I'm already looking forward to reading the next one!
