Vengeful Gods by Elliott Rose
4.0
Spice: 4.5/5
Plot: 4/5 for both
I really need to get better about writing reviews right after I read the book lmao. Thankfully, I actually take pretty in depth kindle notes so I’m able to recall things but fuck is that annoying sometimes lol. Anyway… I’m combining Vengeful Gods with the epilogue novella cuz that just makes sense. Noire Moon I’m gunna do a mini review for cuz that definitely needs its own spot on my grid. This is spoiler free except for a tiny little thing near the end but I give a warning beforehand.
Ok so… Let’s break it down a little bit… Why choose, 1 FMC and 3 MMC’s, enemies to lovers, pierced d!ck, touch her and d!e, secret society, s3x club and lots of ⚔️ so if that’s not your thing, don’t read this lol. It is a little bit dark, not Pam Godwin dark, but more like Rina Kent or Penelope Douglas kinda dark. I also didn’t get the feeling that she was throwing out triggers left and right just for shock value, which was super nice so the whole thing actually really worked for me. But do check the trigger warnings beforehand just to be on the safe side.
I really, really enjoyed just about everything in this book. I loved all of our characters and their arcs. There was plot AND spice, although it was definitely heavier on the spice which isn’t a bad thing lol. The banter is top fuckin notch, absolutely perfect. We get POV’s from every character which I REALLY REALLY fucking loved. It can sometimes be overwhelming in a why choose because there’s so many people, but Elliot did such a phenomenal job with that because each character is so unique that nothing gets confused anywhere. There’s 2 chapters in particular that I noted and actually made status updates about (which I rarely do) because they were from one of the guys’ perspectives and it was SO. FUCKING. HOT. But there was also a depth and emotion to those moments that a lot of authors struggle to get right, and it was just so well done that I fucking adored it.
Now, if you’re new here you’re about to find out why I say I write honest reviews lol. Most people would just stop their review here and we’d all be wondering why they gave it 4 stars instead of 5… I’m not that person lol. I will tell you exactly why I gave it 4 and you won’t have to guess about anything lol.
First, Elliot tried to do the whole Daddy thing with one of our MMC’s and it just missed the mark sooooo much for me lol. I go feral for a good Daddy moment, but it HAS TO meet certain criteria for me (maybe I should do a post about that?) and this one just gave me the biggest ick every single time one of them said it. It’s gunna work for a lot of you, I’m just picky AF. Next up is that it’s longer than it needs to be and shit started to get really redundant at a certain point. It was also predictable with certain things, not so much that it ruins the plot but it could have been a little bit less obvious. Now, while I did enjoy everyone’s character development, there was some stuff with Thorne that I found felt like it was an after thought and she was maybe trying to beef up the plot without going back and adjusting things from the beginning. I don’t know if it would be enough to call it a plot hole but I’d definitely say it’s an inconsistency and I really pick up on that stuff, so yea it took away from my overall experience for sure. Lastly, there was definitely some off stuff with the spice lol. There’s a few ick words for sure, but there were two things that really stood out to me… if you don’t want a couple minor icky spoilers skip to the end now lol…
One, we all know that you need to pee after sex. Why for the love of all that is fucking holy are you making this such a big thing?! And why is what’s his name standing over her to make sure she pees?! And it happens more than once… That’s weird as fuck. Like, I don’t care if he’s trying to take care of her, that’s a hard no for me lol. And two, one of the guys fish hooks her… What?! That’s not hot or attractive in anyway... Like, put your hand over her mouth, or a hand necklace, hell breath play would have been an amazing call here!! But no, he fish hooks her and it’s just so fucking weird lol.
Anyway, those are my thoughts lol. As for the epilogue novella; Foxglove, Thorne, Kyron, Raven… it’s basically just their HEA continued, but there is a certain part to it that we don’t get in the first book that I was really looking forward to and we get it here instead. It really just wraps everything up nicely and puts a shiny red bow on top lol.
Now as for reading order… I did it wrong, so don’t base your order off of my GoodReads.
You wanna go:
Vengeful Gods
FTKR
Noire Moon
Macabre Gods (which will release next year sometime, I will find out when for you guys!)
So, do I recommend this? Absolutely. Elliot’s writing is fantastic, and I do love the world she’s building here and I’m hopeful that the series is just going to keep getting better and better!

P.S. And I just had an after thought lol… I would have loved more details about the other houses etc, but I think the lack of information is maybe intentional so that we can learn more later on with the hope of connecting other books in… Can anyone confirm this for me?
