Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates
5.0
This is perhaps the most beautiful, poignant, unapologetically honest piece of literature I have ever read. Coates is to us today what Richard Wright was to readers in the early twentieth century, and indeed an echo of Wright resonates throughout the book. Regardless of what segment of America you belong to, you must read this book in order to understand what it means to be black in America and indeed to grasp the reality of racism that still courses through America's culture.
