This is a super short little story about Lord va'Rin and how he met and fell in love with Milly - which ultimately led him to creating a safe haven for human women on Risda III.
Three Thoughts:
1. The power dynamics in this one made it a little iffy for me, though I did really appreciate that the story acknowledged it and the couple found a solution before the banging commenced.
2. I would have liked to see more of their friendship/secret pining rather than having the small time jump. I know it was supposed to be a really short novella, but even 5-10 pages of relationship development would have made a huge difference.
3. You've got to love a man who is gone for his love interest from the moment he sets eyes on her.
Though this is technically a prequel to the Risdaverse series, I think it's probably best read as backstory after you've read the first couple books in the series and already have a handle on the way the world works.
