I read a fair bit of history, and some of it is a slog. This book moves along. Lots of time stamps to keep you oriented ("the hospital had been open 6 weeks..."). The author had a lot of material to work with, as there was newspaper coverage of this novel, women-run hospital, and staff and patients wrote lots of letters home describing the work and care.

Recommended for people interested in suffragettes, medicine, and military history.
