The Girl from Widow Hills by Megan Miranda

2.0

Endings can help or harm a book. And in this case, the ending ruined the book.

I decided to pick this book up for one reason and one reason only: because the lady at my favorite used bookstore recommended it to me. And I feel like I went into this book with pretty reasonable expectations. I didn't know what it was about besides that it was a mystery/thriller (not my usual genre) but I trusted the recommendation and I've pretty much enjoyed everything else she had told me to read.

Btw, I listened to the audiobook (which probably made the reading experience more enjoyable for me).

So what does this book have going for it?
• An unreliable narrator with mommy issues who had changed her name to escape the press after she went missing when she was six. (best part of the book tbh)
• A plot twist that I didn't see coming and really hated.
• Characters I couldn't care less about
• Little bits of transcripts and newspaper articles scattered throughout that did nothing to further the story but were fun ig

Anyways, yay for 3x speed audiobooks!
