The Bodyguard was a cute mix of comedy, romance, action and happily ever after. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline and I felt that it was unique to most rom-coms Iβve read. The fake dating trope is tried-and-true and I felt that Center did a great job at it here. I consumed this book predominantly via audiobook, Patti Murin did a wonderful job at capturing Hannahβs spunkiness. This book provided a jolt of action and good-humored suspense at the end, hiking my rating up .5 stars from what would be a run-of-the-mill, solid 3-star contemporary romance. While I enjoyed the refreshing plotline and heartwarming epilogue, this read was missing just a little something in the chemistry department for me to put it in my top. Hereβs a breakdown of some things I loved about this book, and also what held it back from being a 5-star read for me:

π΄π³:
- The HEA was ADORABLE, and I loved how it was actually realistic for a rom-com
- The unexpected punch of suspense at the end
- The side-story between the hero and his brother
- Centerβs writing style: addressing the reader is super charming when done well!
- Although it was super straight-forward, the moral of the story was so wholesome

π΄ :
- I felt the MC was slightly one-dimensional
- Lack of chemistry between MC & hero
- Plotline with Kennedy Monroe (I couldβve done without this)
