The Christmas Wish by Lindsey Kelk

5.0

Thirty-something London lawyer, Gwen Baker's life begins to unravel when her long-term love interest pulls a cliche move and leaves her for his secretary, taking his heated floors with him. Gwen secretly dreads the thought of a forced family Christmas in her hometown with her argumentative sister and her insufferable husband and gremlins of children along with her prodding parents and no-filter grandmother, but spending time with them may be better than the current state of her life. Will Gwen have herself a merry little Christmas or end up in the mad house? The only thing keeping her sane is her gay cousin, Manny, with whom she grew up and totally understands her life's current state. Sneaking a glimpse of her childhood neighbor and secret love interest, Dev, while she is back home wouldn't be so bad either.

Soon, Gwen finds herself in a Christmas Groundhog day with Christmas Day repeating itself over and over. In an attempt to figure out what the universe wants from her and break herself out of the seemingly endless cycle, some days ending better than others, she discovers not just the joys of Christmastime, reconnecting with her family, and falling in love (again), but also rediscovers herself and her own needs and path in life, too.

At first I was a little frustrated at the English terminology and mannerisms that I didn't understand, but then I quickly latched on to the comical, heartwarming story and the quirky characters and the rest is history! This is perhaps the funniest fiction book I've ever read. Most definitely the funniest Christmas romance. Lindsey has such a raw laugh-out-loud sense of humor that I truly enjoy. This is my first time reading her work, but it definitely won't be my last!

Thank you so much to NetGalley, TLC Book Tours, Harper Collins 360 and Lindsey for my advance reader's copies both digital and physical of this title in exchange for an honest review! All thoughts are my own.
