Maids of Misfortune by M. Louisa Locke

3.0

It only took me 5 years to read this book. Time goes quickly, I was on a verge of giving up completely. But my OCD forced me to finish it in the end and now I am glad I did because I ended up liking the book.

The begining was meh for me, and I’ve tried to read it few times over the years but got bored and moved on to other books. I’ve managed to get to almost half of the book, and recently decided to start again because I have my Goodreads reading challenge started and not many finished books. And because I had quite a lot books started, I decided to pick the book I already read quite a bit to get things progressing quicker.

So I was at about 45% of the book with my sporadic reading sessions, and when I got to about half of the book I finaly started to get interested. I finished the book in few days after I started reading it again. I might even be interested in reading other books in the series.

It was an interesting murder mistery in the end, it is quite well written and I could immerse myself in the time period. Also the main character is not too annoying, which is important. I recently read some cozy murder mystery (Murder by Pumpking Spice Latte I think it is called) and that protagonist was so annoying that I wanted to slap her.
I am actually wondering now why I finished that book in one go and this one I took so long.

I can see Hallmark Murder Mistery film series in the future, it has a potential, and that cozy vibe, it’s has murder in it but it’s also family friendly, without the gory details.
