I first read Eragon at the age of thirteen and I feel like this was the perfect age to read this book, since it's a great introduction to the world of fantasy for young readers. Now I'm more acquainted with the high fantasy genre I can see why Eragon has received so many mixed reviews. Paolini wrote Eragon when he was only fifteen years old and this shows while rereading. The characters are loveable, but miss a bit of depth. The battles are epic, but end rather quick and easy. The world and adventure created are mesmerizing, but lack in originality when familiar with other high fantasy novels. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed my reread of Eragon. Eragon brought me back to my youth. To the time where my love for dragons and all things fantasy first ignited. I fell in love with Saphira, again. I rooted for Eragon to succesfully complete his quest, again. I absorbed the rich detail and slow pace of the story, again. I was intrigued by Murtagh, again. I enjoyed meeting all these different fantastical creatures, again. And most importantly, I dreamed of becoming a dragon rider myself, again.
