This was the hardest book to read of the trilogy, and I understand why there are mixed reviews because it felt like Katniss was in a spiral the entire time -- but that's precisely what I loved about it. Since the book is told from a first person POV, the author capitalized on this and made the effort to show us exactly what it's like for someone in war to go through the motions of all of the action that is happening around them; and see how it genuinely damages you for life.. how one moment, you're talking to someone and the next, they're blown up and lifeless.. and you have no time to process your emotions but to keep moving forward and onward.

It is also in this book that certain plot twists are revealed and they make you question once again, what is the difference between righteous anger and rage? What is the difference between seeking justice vs. vengeance? And when does it ever end? When is war necessary?

This is definitely one of those series that will stick with me forever; and any book that creates a lasting impact is a 5-star for me.
