I'm Glad My Mom Died

Very good - listened as an audiobook. The first third is a simple read but then the remainder of the book takes on very hard topics (manipulation, abuse, eating disorder). The author's story is told candidly, transparently, with authenticity and vulnerability - while maintaining a dry wit. Her story is difficult to explain, but with her short stories/chapters she weaves a life where readers can follow along a relationship that was both loving but unhealthy - because unfortunately even if someone loves you, it does not mean that love is always healthy for you. A story worthwhile telling, and worthwhile reading. Rated Very Good (any demerits are that the prose can be more intentional/room for improvement).
Graphic: Alcoholism, Eating disorder, Emotional abuse
Moderate: Cancer, Death of parent
