Midnight by Jacqueline Wilson

I’ve been a massive fan of Jacqueline Wilson since I was child. This book is my least favourite by a long shot. It should have been a hit based on the theme of family (including adoption), friendship and the magic of fairies. But there are some very serious issues of manipulation and control that went totally unaddressed and made me extremely uncomfortable. It’s all just very odd and felt very wrong. I’m not sure exactly what message was supposed to be convey here. Such a shame. The illustrations by Nick Sharratt were totally on point (as usual) though.
