The Further Observations of Lady Whistledown by Karen Hawkins, Mia Ryan, Suzanne Enoch, Julia Quinn

4.0

'The Further Observations of Lady Whistledown' is a collection of 4 stories by Julia Quinn and 3 other authors - Suzanne Enoch, Karen Hawkins and Mia Ryan.

'One True Love' by Suzanne Enoch is a 7 chapter novella featuring Anne and Maximillion. The writing style was comforting and it felt just like reading a book by Quinn - I'd expect that seeing as Enoch as also a well developed historical romance writer. Maximillion was a tad shady, using her desire towards him as manipulation but that gets solved by a tiny dose of communication... about money. The ending references Hades and Persephone (using the seeds of a pomegranate to demonstrate how Maximillion will spend 6 months here and 6 months there) and then voilĂ , happy ending.

'Two Hearts' by Karen Hawkins is an 8 chapter novella about Liza and Royce. I much preferred this story in comparison to Enoch's but the funniest thing had to be the cancellation of a proposal over a monkey.

'A Dozen Kisses' by Mia Ryan is yet again another 7 chapter novella. However, this one is about Caroline and Terrance. This one wasn't to my liking. Although it was the shortest, I felt like it was dragging on.

The final novella is 'Thirty-six Valentines' by the queen herself, Julia Quinn. The romance features Susannah and David. And we get a cameo from our favourite Brunette - Penelope!! As usual, she is a sweetheart and we love Penelope. This story was a speedy one and I loved the romance. Better yet, I loved the feature of an epilogue.
