I’m torn on how to rate this book. It was an enjoyable read for the most part. A horseman of the apocalypse is a very unique take on a villain/ enemies to lovers romance and I LOVE that. While I enjoyed the romance between the characters, I did find some of this book very repetitive and their relationship a continuous cycle.
For some reason I expected more of a plot twist at the end or some big reveal since he is an other worldly being. I almost expected there to be some grand scheme revealed by God or Death as to why she existed or why their romance was allowed to continue.
I also feel like the style of writing was so unserious sometimes. There were times where the FMC felt like a forced comedic relief in the doom and gloom that is the apocalypse and it would just make me cringe. I could just think this, however, because I am used to romantasy writing and thought this would be more like that as opposed to a dark romcom. Parts of me still enjoyed her character and her development. This book just would have been better in third person POV because my god, her inner dialogue was too much. Overall, I got through this book fast, eager to see how it ends and loved the unique concept of it and the romance.
