I had mixed feelings about this one. I cared about Benny and Annabelle and their grief, and was interested in the voices that Benny hears. I was less into the narrative asides from the Book itself, and like many other reviewers, thought that the novel was longer than it needed to be.

I think I preferred A Tale for the Time Being, but it's hard for me to compare the two directly because it's been over five years since I read it.
