This book was uncomfortably close to reality. An amazing dystopian novel that everyone should be taking the time to read right now. My main critique of this book is the way the women are written. I want to believe that their characterization is purely an extension of the main character’s misogyny, reflecting and speaking to the gender dynamics/puritan control set up in this universe. However, I’m not sure that’s really the case or that it’s executed well if it’s meant to be. I wish the main character was a woman for this reason. Nonetheless, an amazing book.
