Oh wowwww I was scared that booktok had overhyped this one but I really loved it. I was intrigued by the story at first and then I was hooked. I have soooo many thoughts about Evelyn and could probably talk about her for days. I didn't love the Monique part of the story which is the only reason I give it a 4.5 instead of 5. I think it would have read just fine if it were entirely Evelyn's perspective, as if she wrote the whole book and then had it published after her death. I just feel like Monique's angle was unnecessary and it kept pulling me out of the story, but I could see it working well if this were a movie or a show! The big connection between her and Evelyn felt obvious to me so that was a bit disappointing and wasn't a shocking reveal. But overall really loved this, I think it covered a lot of important themes.
