This book was alright, the Elder Scrolls setting is what really kept me engaged.

The highlights of this book were definitely the action scenes. The sections with the khajit warriors were awesome. The characters were cool, although the main one was my least favorite to read about. The book explores a lot of locations from the games and lore which was really nice to see as an Elder Scrolls fan. Personally, I found the pacing to be nice too. I read this in about 3 days on a vacation.

I have not read anything by Greg Keyes before, and maybe it was the e-reader formatting that contributed to it, but I found the book to be difficult to follow at times. I often had to re-read certain sections to understand what was really happening, even then I was left confused at times. The POV shifts were also very disjointed at times breaking up the flow of the book. This one isn’t a personal gripe of mine, but if you aren’t familiar with the lore past surface level topics you’ll struggle with the story and context.

If you’re an elder scrolls fan looking for a quick read, I can recommend this. For those who are not fans of the series, I would skip this at revisit it after a few of the games or lore videos to better enjoy it.

Solid read to pass the time, nothing outstanding but enjoyable still.
