ARC/ALC Review

Catherine Cowles has officially made me a fan of the romantic suspense genre!

Sutton fled to Sparrow Falls two years ago to find a safe place for her and her son, Luca. She owns a bakery and works hard to provide her son with the best life possible.

Cope is a famous hockey player for the Seattle Sparks. After an altercation with a teammate, he has come back to Sparrow Falls for the off season. He volunteers to assist with a hockey camp for kids.

When Sutton drops off Luca on the first day of hockey camp, she runs into Cope. There is something there, but she has sworn off athletes because of what happened with her ex-husband. Cope just so happens to be her son’s favorite hockey player and a Colson which means she won’t be able to avoid him. Cope can’t help but adore Luca and his passion for hockey. He also can’t help being drawn into Sutton’s sparkling turquoise eyes. But he notices that there are shadows in those bright eyes as well. Not knowing what or who put those shadows there, Cope is willing to do anything to protect and comfort Sutton and Luca. Sutton sees how caring Cope is with her son and the walls she built around her heart come crashing down. They’ve both experienced pain in the past and found a safe place in each other, but what happens when the past comes back to rip it all apart…

Every book in this series keeps getting better and better. Cope and Sutton were perfection. I love how the nickname that each MMC gives the FMC truly describes them. Sutton is a warrior for everything she has gone through. Cope is so sweet and caring to both Sutton and Luca. Grandma Lolli never ceases to make me laugh. I love that everyone is one big family and they look out for each other. The suspense towards the end of the book had me on my toes. I was shocked at who was behind everything that happened. Overall I really enjoyed Cope and Sutton’s story and I can’t wait for Arden’s story!

I also listened to the audiobook for this book and highly recommend you listen to it as well. Erin Mallon and Connor Crais did a wonderful job narrating the story and portraying Sutton and Cope.

Thank you Catherine Cowles for the ARC and ALC!
