The Duke Who Didn't by Courtney Milan
4.0

A better-than-average historical romance - mostly because there's an entire cast of non-white people in England, most of them working-class.

However, it IS a romance novel, and the main character DOES fall in love with the Duke - who is Chinese British and trying to satisfy his caretaker's plans for his marriage - despite the fact that the aunt is straight-up racist.

There were fewer-than-average sex scenes, but there were enough, in my opinion. There was a dropped hint that Chloe's dad's name and the Duke's name had some meaningful significance, but it came to nothing - meaning only that there were no mysteries.

The plot is a straightforward unfolding of Chloe's and her dad's attempt to create and package a delicious food item to sell, not only to make a living but also to get vengeance on the cheating businessmen who took advantage of her father.

Fun. I'd read more in the series.
