I am very torn between 3 and 4 stars for this (I'd like a 3.5...). On the one hand the subject matter is undoubtedly fascinating - I'd struggle to not enjoy any book about spaceflight - however on the other hand I did take issue with Wolfe's Style. The constant excitement! The exclamation points! The sheer barrage of thrills! It all just got a little too much.
Also, as reviewer Richard noted, there is no distinction between fact and Wolfe's opinion, which can make it hard to try and separate the reality from the author's own views.
Still a very interesting and entertianing read, but I wanted to like it more than I did.
