I think I've enjoyed all the sarah Addison Allen books that I've read. I suppose I would call them magical realism. Although magic is a small afterthought in the story. Especially in this book, the magic is really only small dashes. Almost superstition.  It's really a sweet story of female friendships.  And how important and often overlooked those friendships are.
