okay, you all know me. i love rick riordan. after reading the original pjo series in grade 6, he has forever carved a piece in my heart. as the years have gone by, i have slowly picked away at his other works: heroes of olympus, kane chronicles, magnus chase. it seemed, though, that the trials of apollo was one of the few i had not read -- and i was putting it off. for some reason, the premise didn't seem appealing to me: a god becoming human? too much could happen with that while simultaneously being incredibly boring and predictable (i thought). before picking this up, though, i had just read a very heavy nonfiction book and needed something light, fun, and comforting. so i thought, why not? now that i am done the first book, i am so happy to say i enjoyed this far more than i thought i would! apollo's narration puts a fun twist on riordan's books, and being able to watch his development slowly shine has been wonderful. i did find the pacing of this book a tad slow -- weird for riordan, i know! -- but the pay off was worth it. i love rick!!! (also seeing percy every once in awhile made me so happy)
