War Cry by Mark Powers, Jim Butcher

5.0

It’s been a few months now since his appointment and yet, Harry’s pretty sure he’s never going to get used to the title of Warden. When the council sends him and the other North American wardens on a very cramped car trip to the Midwest, something doesn’t feel completely right. Too much secrecy has Harry’s senses on high alter and for good reason. It is going to take everything he has and more to keep these newbies alive and fight off the Red Court’s advances because Harry’s just discovered something and he absolutely refuses to let this get go the way he most definitely can not allow to go.

I loved this so much and the biggest surprise for me in this volume was that we actually got the perspective of someone other than Harry and it makes for a game changer! In the previous book, we saw Harry get introduced to the Wardens but now we really get to see them shine and work like a time. More mysteries surrounding what’s really going on with the Council make the stakes even high and it played out perfectly! I loved Harry’s creativity in this and the exploration of more of the different types of magic. This volume really highlighted Harry’s struggles with his current disability in his hand and explained it in a very interesting approach. That scene really shows how powerful he is even with one hand out of the game. Makes me so excited to get to the next book. I’m definitely going to need to start purchasing these volumes and not renting them from the library because if they rest end up being this good, I desperately need them in my Dresden collection!
