Falling for the Villain by Rachel Van Dyken, M. Robinson

3.0

To sum up my review of this book in one sentence it would be: confusing story line with a heavy dose of BDSM. Prior to reading this ARC I was given plenty of warning that Falling for the Villain is not for the faint of heart and is uncomfortable to readers. BDSM and master/pet role playing is a big theme in this book and if you’re not comfortable with those themes I would go ahead and maybe skip this book. If you do happen to like those themes then this book is totally for you! It has no shortage of hot scenes and you’ll definitely be in for a treat.

While this book was dark and uncomfortable, it is not the most uncomfortable book I’ve read to date. I’ve read plenty of captive romances with BDSM themes and enjoyed them. Unfortunately for me the master/pet role play in this book was not my jam which is why this book settled at 3 stars for me. Also for a good chunk of the book you are lost and confused as to how the characters know each other and there was not enough build up for me to care for these characters. I went into the book confused and left the book confused. I really wanted to like this book but unfortunately the lack world building, plot, and chemistry between the characters had me struggling to finish.

This book may have not been my cup of tea but as I mentioned above if you are looking for a dark captive BDSM romance with a sprinkling of mafia mentions and angst this book should be added to your TBR lists.

Big thanks to Wildfire Marketing Solutions for providing me with this ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book and all thoughts and opinions are my own
