It’s probably just me but these kinds of books are just tired to me. This kind of kingdom-revolution stuff is so overused that no matter what an author does it just comes off repetitive. I knew exactly how this book would go by the time I was 5 chapters in. Which is sad for me.
Some good things I enjoyed: the WATER PEOPLE. I thought the swimming stuff was so fun. We never get that- ever. It was probably the most unique thing about this book.
Unfortunately though, the good parts of this book were overshadowed by the inexperience of the writer (this is her first book) and the nature of the story. Like: insta-forbidden-love, kingdom, yak-yak -yak. Also, Nor never actually did any spying. She just asked people questions and they told her everything she wanted to know. And every time she ATTEMPTED a stealth operation, she was caught.
Anyway. This was a forgettable read and I am not at all tempted to read the next book in the duology.
