reading this book as a kid made me realize that my mother actually had her own life outside of mine. in more general terms, i realized my mother had a childhood as well, and her own problems as a teenager, and all that jazz i hadn’t quite fully comprehended back then. focuses heavily on family relationships and self introspection.
