This was my second read, but first time listening to Soneela Nankani narrating. She really added another layer to the book for me with her intonation, tone and proper pronunciation of all the delicious foods.
Princess Rani longs to escape her gilded cage and doesn’t want to marry her fiancee Said. Ria is a former orphan and now a thief with Amir.
They meet and decide to swap living as each other.
I prefer Ria as Rani’s story line. She is feisty and opinionated and has a good sense of justice.
Rani as Ria is a little whiney and naive.
I enjoyed this book more the second time around to prep for reading the second book.
The imagery is incredibly vivid and the worldbuilding great. It’s cool there are different kinds of magic.
